Sibling Doula Care

Are you having another child and are worried on who will care for your older child while you head out to your birth?

That’s where I come in!

As a Sibling Doula Care I am on call for you are your family and I head out to your home (or hospital if you want them to stay in the hospital) at any time of the day and care for your older child(ren).

As a Sibling Doula I will:

  • Be present during labor and birth and can offer complete emotional support for your older child(ren).

  • Be available to care for older siblings while their parents are busy and focus on having a baby.

  • Come to your home to care for your child(ren) where it’s most comfortable, or can accompany the family to the birthplace. In case it is needed, I will be ready to take away any little ones who find they are not fully on board or comfortable with all of the amazing events that happen during labor and delivery.

  • Be a calm and confident presence for all given that I am an experienced birth worker and postpartum doula.

  • Be on call for you 24/7 starting at 38 weeks. When you are in labor, I will come to your home or meet you at the hospital.

  • Answer any questions that might come up, keep the child(ren) distracted when they need to, and be a support when the baby is born and they get to meet them.

  • Be available for a postpartum check-in visit, if the family is interested.

Sibling doulas do not:

- Do any type of clinical/medical tasks.
- Make any decision for you and your family.
- Discuss with staff in the hospital any topics pertaining to your birth.
- Give any discipline to your child(ren) with negative reinforcement or punishment. I will only use a positive approach such as redirection, communication, setting goals setting, and compliments.
- Transport child(ren) in my personal car.

Service included:

• On-call availability starting at 38 weeks of pregnancy until 42 weeks.

• If desired, a one-hour “Who is Shirley"?” get-together play date prior to the birth. During this time I will spend time with your child(ren) to become a familiar face.

• Up to 24 hours of continuous care on the baby’s birthday. Any additional hours are billed at a discounted rate.
